The Sea Shanty Cafe at Trearddur Bay is the café the whole island knows — breakfasts, seafood plates, cakes and everything between, all day, yards from the sand; expect a wait at summer lunchtime and consider it part of the experience. Out at South Stack, the RSPB café by the car park pairs coffee with the best workplace view in Wales — and sells the lighthouse tickets.

Town & Park

In town, Market Street and its surrounds carry the everyday independents for breakfast baps, paninis and proper mugs of tea, and the Ucheldre Centre’s café adds culture and a garden to the flat white. At Breakwater Country Park the café serves walkers coming off the mountain and coastal path. Out on the Porth Dafarch road, The Paddlers Return is the quirky favourite — part café, part bar, hearty plates for wetsuited and booted customers alike.

Timing

Cafes here work to beach and boat time: mornings build slowly, summer lunchtimes surge, and most kitchens wind down late afternoon — breakfast options get their own guide. Ferry passengers killing an hour do best at Newry Beach or the country park, both ten minutes from the terminal; cruise visitors will find the town centre cafes a friendly first taste of Wales.

Timing the Island

Café hours here follow boats, boots and buckets: the Sea Shanty’s queue peaks 12–2 in season (go at 10 or 3), the RSPB café syncs with reserve daylight, and town places serve the early trade the beach spots don’t. Ferry arrivals off the morning boats find the town centre just opening — timing that works better than it sounds with a prom walk first. Winter visitors: the Ucheldre and the country park cafés hold the fort year-round.
