Start at the Ucheldre

Holyhead’s events backbone is the Ucheldre Centre — live music, theatre, cinema and broadcast screenings, exhibitions and workshops run year-round in the converted convent chapel; its published programme (ucheldre.org) is the single best answer to “what’s on tonight?” anywhere on Holy Island.
The Island’s Year
The seasons supply the rest: seabird spring at South Stack (RSPB events and guided walks in season), summer regattas and sailing off Trearddur and the beach life at full volume, maritime and community events around the harbour and town through the warm months, and winter storm-watching with the pubs at their coziest. Planning Around It
Nothing here books out like a regatta fortnight — Holyhead stays refreshingly bookable — but sunny summer weekends load Trearddur’s tables and beds first. Local notice boards, the Town Council and the Ucheldre foyer carry the current month better than any national site; check on arrival and build evenings accordingly. For the wider island calendar, day-trip range brings Anglesey’s bigger festivals within reach.
Regular Fixtures
Some rhythms to plan around: the Ucheldre’s exhibition openings (typically monthly) and its broadcast-theatre nights; RSPB guided walks and family events at South Stack through the seabird season; sailing club racing off Trearddur on summer evenings; and the market-day bustle in town. The maritime quarter tends to host its bigger community events in high summer — check locally, as programmes move year to year. Winter’s fixture is simpler: weather, watched from the right pub.
